BEDC assists small business owners in economically distressed and emerging communities while providing students with an enhanced learning experience. Through this work we expand students’ knowledge and skills, help small businesses grow, create and retain jobs, and contribute to the strengthening of the regional economy.

Within our first ten years, BEDC has:

• Enabled more than 600 students to work with 250 small businesses
• Created and retained 500 jobs in inner city communities
• Generated more than $15 million in new revenues
• Linked inner city businesses with major regional corporations
• Provided business owners with scholarships to attend Executive Education programs at the Michael G. Foster School of Business
