Board Fellows Program: Student Information

Application and Selection Process

  • First year MBA students complete a personal survey and attend a matching event early in the Spring quarter.
  • Students choose from a list of pre-screened agencies
  • Students and organizations are matched depending on interests, skill sets, and compatibility
  • Final matches for MBAs are made by the middle of Spring quarter and the new Board Fellows attend their first meetings in May or June.

Program Highlights

  • Participate in three educational seminars about board governance (One half-day session at the start of the Board Fellow tenure; two lunch-time sessions early in the Fall and Winter quarters of the second year.)
  • On-going support from BEDC staff
  • Spend 6 to 8 hours per month working with a nonprofit agency including attending monthly board meetings, a committee meeting and any other required involvement
  • Receive Practical Training credits toward graduation from the MBA program
