Mentor Information

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who are the mentors that participate in the program?

A: The mentors are senior level executives, representing diverse functions, companies and industries in the Seattle community. Each selects an area of the program in which he or she wants to participate. Some of the mentors have been with the program since its beginning eight years ago, and others are new this year.

Q: What is the time commitment?

A: As a first year mentor you commit to hosting one on-site company visit (generally 2 -3 hours). As a second year mentor, the time commitment can vary widely. Generally you will meet with your mentees 3 to 4 times throughout the year, for several hours at a time.

Q: What if the mentor match does not prove to be a good match in terms of personality or career interest?

A: In rare cases where students and mentors are not compatible, meetings may be terminated after a couple of sessions.

Q: Is it possible to be a first and second year mentor?

A: Yes! If you are willing to make this time commitment to our students, we welcome you hosting a visit for first years and meeting with second years.

Q: When will I hear from my mentee group?

A: Students are given their mentor assignments in early-November. You should hear from the group leader by the end of November. If you do not, or you have any questions, please contact us.
