Conversation Groups

Foreign Language Conversation groups are offered on- and off-campus to provide an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and the public to practice and use foreign languages.

Ongoing Conversation Table Schedules (U-District)

Russian
Russian Table will meet most Wednesdays from in the HUB, (room and time varies. Students of Russian, as well as Russian-speaking members and guests of the UW community, are all welcome. Bring your lunch and your interest in speaking Russian, and join us for 15 minutes or the whole session. Spanish
Tertulia (off-campus Spanish Conversation Group)
Every Thursday, 6:00-10:00 pm
Continental Restaurant, 4549 University Way NE

Every Thursday evening a "tertulia" of interesting, Spanish-speaking folks meet in the U district of Seattle. It's a mixed group of people with different ages, interests and backgrounds. The level of Spanish varies from second year at the University to native fluency. The tertulia meets from 6:00-10:00 pm, but individual attendees may come and go as best fits their schedules. German
Stammtisch (off-campus German Conversation Group)
Every Tuesday, 6:00-10:00 pm
Continental Restaurant, 4549 University Way NE

The Seattle tradition "Stammtisch" has met every week in the U district for over ten years. Between 10 and 20 people meet every Tuesday night to speak German and have a pleasant evening together. Not only does the number vary, but also the attendees. Every week new people come and every week is a new experience. Stammtisch offers acquaintances, friendships and conviviality. Alles auf Deutsch. French
Échange Français (off-campus French Conversation Group)
Every Wednesday, 6:30-9:00

The French table offers an opportunity for Francophones to get in on the shaping of this French group. The Wednesday date is optimal for people who have a full weekends, but would like a little diversion in the middle of the week. If you love French this is the group for you. It is friendly and welcoming. And, in these early stages, it is quite intimate! All levels of French are welcome.

Table Francaise, organized by the UW Division of French & Italian Studies, will meet every Friday,1:30 - 3:00 p.m. in Padelford B202. Everyone is welcome!

Czech
Cesky Stolecek (off-campus Czech conversation group)
Every Tuesday, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Continental Restaurant, 4549 University Way NE

Cesky Stolecek is an established, on-going group that follows the University of Washington schedule. They meet every Tuesday during the Autumn, Winter and Spring quarters. If there's a Czech class during Summer, they will be meeting then, too. All Czech speakers are invited to visit the Czech table whenever U Czech classes are in session.
