Team Information & Application

Teams consist of four students, and each team that signs up by the deadline will qualify for the screening round.  The top sixteen teams from the screening round will move on to compete in the 2008 IKEA International Case Competition.  In the past, students have found that choosing team members with diverse skill areas is beneficial. The prize for the winning team is a $1000 IKEA gift certificate.   

The 2008 IKEA International Case Competition will be held the week of January 14, 2008.  Case analysis will take place over 42 hours starting the evening of Tuesday, January 15 until your presentation time on competition day, Thursday, January 17. 

Time Commitment

1. Kick-off Event: Wednesday, January 9, 5:30 – 6:20 pm
2. Case Analysis: evening of Tuesday, January 15 – Thursday, January 17
3. Competition, Final Round, & Awards Banquet: Thursday, January 17
   (8 am – 7 pm)

Team Rules

1. Teams must consist of at least 3 undergraduate business students from the Seattle, Tacoma, or Bothell University of Washington Campuses
2. Teams can have at most 1 non-business undergraduate student from the Seattle, Tacoma, or Bothell University of Washington Campuses
3. All student participants must be enrolled as UW undergraduate students for Winter Quarter 2008
4. Teams may substitute members until Monday, January 9

In submitting this application, you are committing to participate in the competition.  Recognizing that things come up, we will allow for substitutes up until Monday, January 9.  Once you receive the case, you can no longer substitute team members, but you may still present with only two or three team members.  If you have any questions, please write to ikeacase@u.washington.edu or call 206.616.9565.
