The Global Business Center’s mission is to build students’ global business expertise.  Through our federally-funded CIBER grant and corporate sponsorships, we are able to provide all students a premier group of programs that takes their studies beyond the classroom and out across the globe.

Language Program & Resource Offerings

Foreign Language Conversation Groups - Foreign Language Conversation groups are offered on- and off-campus to provide an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and the public to practice and use foreign languages.

Overseas Intensive Summer Language Programs - The Global Business Center and the International Programs & Exchanges Office at the UW collect information each year on intensive summer language programs. Usually approximately two months long, these courses offer an opportunity to begin a new language, or increase your skill level immensely in your chosen language.

Technical Japanese Program - TJP is the only program of its kind in the United States. A full range of technical Japanese courses is offered using the latest in educational technology. Graduates can read technical literature in Japanese and work effectively with Japanese engineers and scientists in a research or business environment.

Business Chinese - Doing successful business in China begins with an understanding of the business climate. This Business Chinese will focus on the international trade issues of China in the contemporary world. The subjects will include international business activities such as trade, banking, marketing, finance and investment. Contemporary writings which include newspaper reports, periodical articles, documentary materials, statistics, as well as video-recordings are the main tools to explore different aspects of international business.
