Student Participants: We will arrange for student participant accommodations on their behalf for the nights of April 7 - April 12, 2008 at the Watertown Hotel in the University District. For participants that wish to stay before April 7 or after April 12, they will need to make reservations on their own.
Faculty Advisors: We have put a hold on a block of rooms at the Watertown Hotel for faculty advisors accompanying the student teams for the competition. Faculty advisors and/or their university are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and paying for their own accommodation. We encourage you to make your reservations for the nights of April 7 - April 12, 2008 at this hotel so that you will be with your team. Each room costs $138.72 per night with taxes included. This special rate is only valid through March 3, 2008. Please make your reservations before March 3, 2008 to receive the special reduced rate for the nights of April 7 - 12. If you or your students would like to extend your stay beyond the nights of April 7 – 12, the hotel will offer you the University of Washington visitor rate of $156.06 (single) or $167.62 (double).
To reserve your room online, click on Group Reservations. Please note on the form under "Group Name" that you are a "Global Business Case Competition 2008" attendee. Visa and Embassy Information: Find out if you need a visa to enter the U.S. and where to find the U.S. embassy in your area. Travel restrictions change often, so check with your airline and visit the Port of Seattle for current information at your time of travel.
Transportation: We will provide transportation on April 7 from the airport to the hotel and throughout the week to all scheduled GBCC events. We are not able to provide transportation back to the airport after GBCC; teams may arrange for a shuttle or taxi at the hotel front desk.
Airport Pickup Schedule: After flight information is provided by all teams, we will provide a link to the schedule, which will tell you when you can expect to be picked up at Sea-Tac International Airport. Airport pickup is available only on Monday, April 16. If you fly in earlier, you will need to arrange for your own transportation to the hotel upon arrival in Seattle.
NOTE: If you are arriving earlier than April 7 or leaving later than April 13, you will need to pay for and make additional hotel accommodations on your own. To make these arrangements please contact the GBCC Co-Chairs at gbccuw@u.washington.edu for further instructions.
How long will it take to go through customs?
You should expect it to take 30 minutes to one hour to pass through customs. This time can vary depending on your country of origin and time of day. Please remember to keep all immigration papers you receive in order to expedite your departure from the US and return to your country of origin.
How do I exchange money?
We encourage you to bring credit cards and traveler's checks denominated in US dollars. Banks near the hotel are not capable of exchanging foreign currency. If you would like more information on exchanging money in Seattle, please visit Thomas Cook (scroll to the bottom for Washington State).
