Projects

Solve real-world business problems. Sharpen your analysis, increase your practical experience and build a portfolio of accomplishments through MBA projects. Gain insight into actual business environments and the approaches required to address complex problems.

Business consulting projects are integrated into the first-year core curriculum. Other projects may be selected to fulfill practical and international experience requirements.

Core Business Consulting Projects — partner with clients to tackle challenges. Teams of first-year students integrate their MBA knowledge and work experience to develop strategic approaches for businesses. Working with a faculty advisor, student teams meet with clients to scope projects, determine a course of action, perform research and present their recommendations.

Business and Economic Development Center projects — grow local businesses and nonprofit organizations. The Business and Economic Development Center (BEDC) sponsors a paid summer internship program that places MBAs at community development corporations, runs the Board Fellows Program where MBAs learn about board governance and strategic decision-making by serving on nonprofit boards of directors, and offers an Autumn quarter elective course through which MBAs develop strategic plans for growth oriented family-owned businesses.

Field Study Program — gain in-depth consulting experience. The two-quarter Field Study Program gives second-year MBAs a chance to explore more complex resolutions to domestic and international business issues. Working with a faculty advisor and client, teams use their training in management, finance, marketing and technology to make recommendations about strategy, competitiveness, organizational effectiveness and new business options.

International Consulting Projects — develop multinational solutions. With a focus on global business recommendations, such as international market research and competitive strategy, supply chain management and distribution, MBA International Business Consulting projects (IBUS 550) provide second-year MBAs with valuable hands-on experience.
