Year One Activities
Beginning with a clarification of your goals during LEAD and continuing through your first year with personal coaching, the UW MBA support systems are in place to power your achievement.
Get a strong start with an early LEAD. All MBA students kick off the program with Leadership, Exploration, Association, Direction (LEAD) activities, an immersion into the UW MBA experience. Meet study team members and fellow students in a fun, interactive environment. Learn about club activities and student support, begin a strategic plan for your professional development, and attend the first sessions of core classes in this intensive, two-week orientation.
Map your goals with a personal study plan. At the beginning of the program, you’ll start a personal study plan that includes academic courses and career planning, as well as experiential learning through internships and consulting projects.
Make the most of your first year experience with personal coaches. Connect with MBA staff, faculty and students to get the help you need to flourish.
- The MBA Career Services staff works with you before orientation even starts to define career interests and connect you to employers. During the first year, they can help you locate a great internship and develop practical experiences that advance your individual career goals.
- Second-year MBA students help you navigate the MBA curriculum, develop teamwork skills and take advantage of MBA student resources.
- Academic advisors work with you to identify the courses and learning experiences that best fulfill your MBA objectives.
- Faculty advisors support your learning on student projects, help you improve performance in case competitions, and provide career advice and connections to practitioners in their fields.
