What kind of job can I get with an MBA?
This question typically expresses a desire to explore career options. We prefer to focus this exploration by asking: “What do you want to do with an MBA?” Our personalized approach to career services emphasizes finding a career path that you can be passionate about. After helping you clarify your strengths, interests and goals, we help you find practical ways to explore potential career paths. Through informational interviews, projects and internships you’ll learn not just where the MBA can take you, but where you truly want to go.
What companies hire UW MBAs?
In the list of recent hiring companies you’ll recognize the names of industry leaders, as well as start-ups, regional companies, non-profits and government agencies. These organizations are as diverse as the students who graduate with a UW MBA.
What services does the Business Connections Center offer?
Our office helps connect students and employers for internships, projects, and post-MBA jobs. To that end, we support students through every stage of their career development. Through ongoing coaching and regular workshops, we help students clarify their career goals and develop the skills they need for success. In addition to various networking events, company presentations and career fairs, we also organize on-campus recruiting and manage job postings.
What national and international opportunities are available to me as a UW MBA student?
Our office is dedicated to maintaining relationships with UW MBA alumni across the nation and around the globe, as well as to building new relationships with companies beyond the Pacific Northwest. We organize a series of Road Shows to major metropolitan areas outside Seattle, connecting students with alumni and employers through company visits and networking events. We are also active participants in key national and global MBA career fairs.
Can I design my own internship?
Yes. Sometimes established internship programs won’t provide the experience you’re looking for. If so, our career coaches can help you design an internship that meets your needs, as well as help you develop a strategy to pitch it to the target company.
I am an undergrad UW Business student/ a UW grad student outside the Business School/ an MBA alum from another university/ a member of the community. Can I use your services?
No. Unfortunately, our office has only resources enough to serve UW MBA students currently enrolled at the Seattle campus and UW MBA alumni.
