GRADUATION

MBA Graduation Ceremony 2009
The graduation ceremony for full-time and evening MBA students is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 7:00pm. You can find information about the ceremony on the Graduation website. Note for International students: If you have family members who wish to attend the graduation ceremony and need letters to support their visa application, please contact Linda Bruen.

Spring Quarter Graduation
If you are completing your degree this quarter and plan to graduate in June, you must file for graduation with the University and complete our graduating student survey indicated below. Note: The last day to apply for graduation (without a late fee) is May 17.

Graduating Student Survey 2009: Guest Tickets (and more)...
To help us plan for your graduation ceremony, we ask that each student who has or will be graduating between Autumn 2008 and Autumn 2009 complete a short survey. We ask that every student complete the survey, even if you are not planning to attend the ceremony. This survey will provide us with information about how you want your name to appear in the graduation program and how many guests you wish to bring to the ceremony. The information you enter on the survey will also help us determine how many guest tickets will be available to each student. At the present time, we anticipate we will have 4 guest tickets per graduating student, but we will use the survey results to determine if extra tickets will be available.

We ask that you complete the survey no later than May 15. If you do not complete the survey by that date, we will assume you do NOT plan to attend the ceremony and will reallocate your guest tickets to other students.

Upcoming Marketing Club Event: Launching Big Ideas with a Small Budget, Monday, April 13, 5:00-6:00pm in Balmer 417

This discussion will focus on marketing in a down economy. As marketing budgets have shrunk and funding for start ups are tight, it is vital that we get creative and do more with less. Our guests will share tactics that have allowed them to be successful even in tough economic times. Guests include:

  • Jodi Sorenson - Sr. Level Marketing & PR Consultant
  • Jeanette Thebeau - CMO of Dry Soda Co.

Food will be served so please RSVP to Lydia Edwards.

MBA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2009-10

MBA Scholarships for Continuing Full-time Students: Deadline April 15
The online application for second-year MBA Scholarships is now available. Please visit the How to Apply for MBA Scholarships website for the information you need to apply and a link to the online application form. If you have any questions about applying for MBA scholarships, please email mbaschol@u.washington.edu. (Note: International students who are not eligible to file the FAFSA may still complete our online scholarship application, but may not be eligible for some scholarships that are need-based.) The priority deadline to apply for scholarships for next year is April 15.

Several students have asked whether their first-year scholarship award is automatically renewed for their second year, and the answer is that they are not automatically renewed.  We ask that all continuing students who wish to receive scholarship funds during 2009-2010 complete the online application and submit the supplemental materials.  On the online application, where you are asked for your GPA, please enter your MBA program GPA.
