ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS
Spring Quarter Elective Registration
Second-year full-time, global and second and third-year evening MBAs: Bidding for spring quarter electives is only 1 week away, with bidding opening on February 5. The latest information will be published in the February 4th newsletter. You can get a headstart on the process by taking a look at the tentative spring schedule on our website as well as the MBA Registration Calendar.
Second-year evening MBAs: Because spring is the first quarter you will be bidding for elective classes, an informational workshop on degree requirements, the bidding process and timelines will be held on February 4, from 5-6pm, in the Boeing Auditorium.
First-year full-time MBAs: We will have information sessions and instructions for selecting spring quarter electives in mid-February. Watch future newsletters for details.

CARD CODING FOR LOUNGE
If you missed getting your Husky Card scanned for access to the MBA Lounge in autumn, you will have a chance to do that on February 6 from 5-6pm (during the next evening MBA dinner) in the Seminar Room on the fourth floor of Bank of America Executive Education Center. If you need access to the Lounge in the meantime, email mbaweb@u.washington.edu and we will send you the temporary access code. |
EVENING MBA DINNER, FEBRUARY 6: PLEASE RSVP
The MBA Program Office is hosting a dinner for prospective and current evening MBA students on February 6 from 5-6pm. So we can ensure we have enough food for everyone, we ask that you RSVP to mbaweb@u.washington.edu by noon on February 1. I know that some of you have a midterm scheduled for the evening of Feb. 6, so feel free to come early, grab a bite, and head to your classroom for some last minute studying, but please RSVP to let us know.

Tax 101 Workshops for Students Who Are US Citizens
If you're confused about the tax forms you've received relating to your education, Student Fiscal Services is holding workshops to help students understand their 1098T tax forms, the Hope and Lifetime learning tax credits, and student account or scholarship issues in relation to taxes. This workshop is offered free of charge. Workshops are scheduled as follows:
- January 29:
1:30-2:30pm or 2:30-3:30pm, HUB 209A
- February 12: 1:30-2:30pm or 2:30-3:30pm, HUB 209A

NON-UW EVENTS
HKUST MBA International Business Plan Competition 2008
The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology Business School is inviting graduate business students to submit proposals to compete in the third annual International Business Plan Competition. The competition will be held April 17-19, 2008. Total awards for the 2008 competition will be approximately $25,000.
Interested students must submit a 5-7 page executive summary of their business plans by email attachment by February 1 for full consideration. Submissions should be emailed to the HKUST Contest: hkustbp@ust.hk. Please indicate "HKUST International Business Plan Contestant" in the subject line. There are specific guidelines for the format of the Executive Summary--email Barby Pearson if you would like a copy of those instructions. Each team must also submit an "Intent to compete" note with the preliminary team members, university, and company name and brief description as soon as possible.
