SUMMER NOTES

This is the final edition of the MBA Newsletter for the 2006-07 academic year. Newsletters maybe sent this summer on an "as-needed" basis. The newsletter is featuring a header and footer banner today in tribute to our 2007 Graduates with pictures taken during their orientation.

Summer Office Hours
The MBA Program Office and the Business Connections Center are open during the summer. Starting June 4th, the offices are 8-5 pm, M-F.

MBA Lounge Mailboxes
Before you depart campus for the summer, please take a moment to clean out your mailbox.
Later this summer, the MBA Program Office staff will be reassigning the boxes and anything left in them will be discarded.

ACADEMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS

Requesting Autumn Quarter Elective Classes

  • May 29: Evening and Full-time Classes of 2008 may add additional elective classes to their schedule by emailing mbaregis.
  • May 31: Evening Class of 2009 may add additional elective classes to their schedule by emailing mbaregis. You have completed the prerequisites for the following weekend and evening courses: BCMU 579, ENTRE 579 (both courses),MGMT 547, MKTG 579 and MKTG 550. If you took FIN 509 in the spring, you can take FIN 560.

The following elective classes are currently full and a wait list is being maintained: FIN 579 A/B, ENTRE 579 C/D and QMETH 551 A/B. MKTG 530 A/B has been moved to spring.

Additional Course Information:

  • MGMT 546: Course instructor Terry Mitchell has provided some additional information on his course.
  • Independent Study: If you are planning to take an independent study in the fall, you need to complete the form.
  • Non-MBA Classes: If you are taking a course outside of the MBA Program, you need to complete a non-MBA request form for approval before you enroll in the class.

Full-time Class of 2008 Registration Deadline
To retain the classes you were awarded in the bidding process, you need to register for them by June 18. If you are unable to register by the 18th, email mbaregis and ask us to hold your seat in the classes.

GRADUATING STUDENTS

Graduation Ticket Distribution
Don't forget to pick-up you graduation tickets before the ceremony. If you are unable to come to the MBA Office yourself to pick up tickets, you may have a friend pick up your tickets provided they bring a printed e-mail message from you authorizing them to get those tickets. We will not distribute tickets without such an approval. Please contact Linda Bruen if you need to make alternative arrangements to get your tickets. IMPORTANT: Lost tickets cannot be replaced and should be treated like cash! If you no longer need all the tickets that were allocated to you, or if you want to be placed on the wait list for additional tickets, e-mail Barby Pearson.

MBA Lounge Access
You will be able to access the MBA Lounge until late August/early September when your ID cards will be deactivated.

MBA Listservs
Your class listservs (evemba2007 and mba2007) will remain active indefinitely. Individual email addresses will be removed from the lists once they no longer work. We will remove all graduated students from mbabull and mbamail unless you request to remain on thosse listservs. You may send your request to mbaweb.

WASHINGTON RETAIL SEMINAR

The Retail Management Program is co-sponsoring this year’s Retail ‘07 event on June 6 led by the Opus Law Group. The Group has offered a special $39 rate to faculty and students of the UW Business School. This conference has something for everyone and is a great opportunity to network with a wide variety of Seattle Business community people. For more information, contact Mary Ann Odegaard.
