MBA Portal: Graduation

This page contains information about graduation for the 2007-2008 academic year. It is updated throughout the year as more information about the graduation speaker and other ceremony details become available. Please refer to the MBA Student Handbook for your class for degree requirements and general information on applying for graduation.

Graduation Application

The online graduation application is available on the first day of each quarter. The application deadline for the Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters is the seventh week of the quarter. The application deadline for Summer quarter is the sixth week of the quarter.

  • Students must be enrolled in classes during the quarter they plan to graduate
  • On the graduate application form, specify “non-thesis” in response to the question about a "thesis" or "non-thesis" program
  • The online graduation application provides an automatic degree audit of your transcript in regard to the UW Graduate School requirements for graduation, but does not include the specific degree requirements of the MBA Program
  • Once you apply for graduation, the MBA Program office conducts an MBA degree audit, after which you will receive an e-mail that details specific classes and requirements that you must complete in order to graduate with an MBA degree

Graduation Ceremonies

You have the opportunity to participate in two graduation ceremonies. The Foster School of Business Graduation Ceremony for MBA, Evening MBA, GMBA, MPAcc, and PhD students, is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, June 14, 2008, in the Meany Hall Center for Performing Arts on the UW campus. (Driving directions to Meany Hall and campus map).

  • Graduates must arrive no later than 6:00 p.m.
  • The ceremony generally runs from 7–9 p.m.
  • A reception for students and their guests will be held in By George, directly across from Meany Hall, from about 9:00-10:30 p.m.

The UW Graduation Ceremony will be held the afternoon of Saturday, June 14, 2008 in Husky Stadium. Additional details available in Spring quarter.

Academic Attire

Caps and gowns are required for both ceremonies. You can order academic attire during Spring quarter (specific dates will be announced in the MBA Newsletter). Students who acquire their attire from previous graduates must notify Linda Bruen to be cleared to participate in the Foster School Graduation Ceremony.

Graduation Tickets

Each graduating student is initially allocated four tickets to the Foster School Ceremony for family and guests. Although additional tickets cannot be guaranteed, most requests for additional tickets have been satisfied in past years.

Diplomas

Three or four months after you graduate your diploma will be sent to the permanent address on record in MyUW at the time of graduation. The name on the diploma will appear as it does on the MyUW Web site. To change your address or the spelling/appearance of your name on your diploma, review the graduation information on the Office of the Registrar's website.
