More than just an Instructor
The Michael G. Foster School of Business faculty has
been rated 11th of 1,300 US schools in research productivity.
Many professors consult with businesses around the world,
enabling them to stay current with global issues and trends.
Several of the faculty currently involved with the MPAcc –
A&A Program have had substantial professional accounting
and business experience along with excellent teaching credentials,
permitting them to share their “real-life” experiences
and bring real world perspective into the classroom.

The faculty is dedicated to delivering a successful and
enriching experience to each student that is applicable and
challenging and are available to meet with students outside
of class.
The Program also includes valuable interaction with the
business community through guest speakers, joint projects
with practicing auditors and their clients, team competitions,
and internship opportunities.

The first-ever ranking of cross-disciplinary business research*
placed the UW Business School Faculty at 11th nationally.

Faculty
Patricia Angell
Shuping Chen is an assistant professor in the accounting department. She holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Southern California. Her research papers are published in top academic journals, such as Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, and the Review of Accounting Studies. She has served as the Faculty Advisor for the 2005 and 2006 Executive MBA International Study Seminars and is currently teaching Intermediate Accounting (III) to in the undergraduate program and Advanced Financial Statement Analysis in the MPAcc - A&A program.
Jim
Gillick, CPA, is the Director of
the MPAcc – A&A Program. He received his BBA from
Manhattan College and EMBA from Stanford University. He has
over 30 years of experience in public accounting. In 1986,
he retired from Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte
& Touche), where he was managing partner –in-charge
of the Northwest Area. He is or has been a member of several
boards of directors and audit committees of for-profit corporations
and charitable organizations. He has been a member of the
faculty of the Business School since 1987, and has taught
auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, and
accounting information systems. In the MPAcc A&A Program,
he teaches the courses on Advanced Auditing Cases, and Communications.
He has received several teaching awards.
John McLean
Elizabeth Widdison, Lecturer of Accounting, has been a lecturer in accounting since 1981, joining
the University of Washington faculty in 1999. Active in the professional
accounting community, she serves on the advisory board for the Washington
Society of Certified Public Accountants and chaired the membership committee
of that organization in the development of a new strategic membership plan.
Course coverage in the Business School includes introductory and
intermediate financial accounting and managerial accounting. In the Masters
of Professional Accounting Program (MPacc – Auditing and Assurance track),
Ms. Widdison is responsible for teaching professional communications, and
she is the academic advisor and faculty leader for the internship and thesis
components of the program.
