The UW Business School was honored to feature John Connors, a partner at Ignition and former Chief Financial Officer of Microsoft Corporation, as the keynote speaker for the 2005 Business Leadership Banquet held on Thursday, October 13.

John Connors is a partner at Ignition. He invests in enterprise software and services companies.

Prior to joining Ignition, John spent fifteen years at Microsoft Corporation in several strategic roles. Most recently he held the position of chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance and administration responsible for Microsoft's finances, investor relations, administration, corporate services, procurement and real estate and also for the company's Global Operations & Technology group.

John also held a variety of positions including vice president of the Worldwide Enterprise Group, where he was responsible for the sales, services and relationship strategy for large, medium-sized and small businesses. Before that, Connors served as vice president and chief information officer (CIO). Before serving as CIO, he held a number of positions within and outside finance, including corporate controller, general manager of worldwide financial operations, director of business operations of Microsoft's European headquarters in Paris, and director of business operations of the Worldwide Sales and Support Strategy Group.

Prior to joining Microsoft, John held management positions at PIP Printing Inc., SAFECO Corp. and Deloitte, Haskins and Sells.

John received his BA in accounting from the University of Montana. He also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Montana.
