UW Business ALVA
Alliances for Learning and Vision for Underrepresented Americans (ALVA) is a paid summer internship program for entering UW freshmen from African American, Hispanic and Native American communities. The ALVA is an all expenses paid program.
ALVA is a partnership between the Foster School of Business and the UW College of Engineering. UW Business ALVA ’s corporate partner is The Boeing Company.
- Each year we have approximately 60 ALVA Interns participants from the Business, Engineering and GenOM programs.
- Participants stay on campus for 10-weeks in the summer before entering UW as freshmen.
- The typical 8-hour paid workday is comprised of 6 hours working with business professionals and 2 hours in a mathematical problem-solving workshop with fellow ALVA participants.
- Transportation is provided to and from your work location.
- Mandatory ALVA weekends activities include: volunteering, social field trips and team building.
High school seniors who qualify for ALVA and are interested in majoring in business, can get answers to their questions by contacting Jai Elliott.
