Prepare yourself

Now that you have identified and clarified your objectives, it is time to prepare yourself for finding the right position. Before you research companies, scour databases and tap into your network, you will want to make sure you can act quickly when finding appealing positions, and that means being prepared.

  1. First, create a resume and have it critiqued. Seek input from a variety of sources during this process. There are many resources for resume creation and improvements at the UW and in the Business School.
  2. Second, consider mock interviews. Your ability to present yourself and your goals in an interview will have a tremendous impact on landing an internship.
  3. Third, sign up for the Business School undergraduate internship email list and create your HuskyJobs account. These will be among your primary tools for locating opportunities.
  4. Finally, meet with an academic adviser in the Undergraduate Programs Office, a career counselor in the Center for Career Services, or a faculty adviser in the departments. These professionals can assist you with any questions or problems that arise.
