A Letter to High School Counselors

Dear Colleague,

We are excited to announce an expanded opportunity for students to be admitted directly to the UW Business School from high school. Beginning with the autumn 2008 admissions cycle, any freshman applicant to the UW who indicates Business Administration as the first choice of major will be considered for Freshman Direct Admission.

Students who are offered Freshman Direct Admission enter the UW assured they are part of the Business School and may pursue Business Administration as a major. Because admission to our major is competitive, this is a real plus for students.

The process for being considered for Freshmen Direct Admission requires that students be deliberate about indicating business as their major on the application to the UW. Students may look to you for guidance so we’ve created this web site to help as you counsel your students. To the right you’ll find links to resources to answer some of your questions and those of your students.

We’ve also written a FAQ about the application process and our program. We would appreciate any suggestions you have for this document. Feel free to email us with additions.

We’re available to speak with you directly and we have advisers in our office that are designated as liaisons for Freshmen Direct Admission.

You play an integral role as your students transition from high school to college. Thank you for all you do! If there is anything we can do to assist you, please don’t hesitate to contact me or one of the advisers in our office.

Sincerely,

Vikki Haag Day
