Minimum Academic Requirements

To be eligible to apply to the Foster School of Business, a student must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA for :

  • all college credits, including transfer credits
  • all business course credits, including transfer credits
  • all UW credits
  • all UW business course credits

Prerequisite Courses

Upper Division Admission Group (UAG)
UAG applicants can apply to the Business School for autumn or winter admission.

This group consists of students who have, at the time they apply, a total of at least 60 college credits from UW and/or other accredited colleges and universities. We only count credits from non-UW institutions that are transferable to UW.

UAG applicants must complete pre-application course requirements by the April 5 deadline for autumn or by the October 5 deadline for winter.

Early Admission Group (EAG)
EAG applicants can apply to the Business School for autumn admission only.

UW students who began their coursework at the UW as freshmen may apply in the spring of their freshman year to enter as part of the EAG in their sophomore year. They must have been enrolled no more than three quarters and have completed at least 30 credits at UW and no more than 59 credits overall. Twenty eight of the required 30 UW credits must be numerically graded. Admission is more competitive for this category than it is for UAG.

By the autumn application deadline of April 5, EAG candidates must have completed their pre-application course requirements.

Completion Deadlines for Prerequisite Courses
The chart below presents a quick picture of the courses required before application and, if admitted, those required before entering the program. Course numbers are for courses offered at UW-Seattle, but equivalents will be considered.

Pre-application courses must be completed by the application deadline; pre-admission courses must be completed by the last day of spring quarter for autumn admission and by the last day of the autumn quarter for winter admission.
