Freshman Direct Scholarship Program
Any freshman applicant to the UW who indicates Business Administration as the first choice of major will be considered for Freshman Direct Admission. Those students selected for admission to the Business School are then automatically considered for a freshman scholarship. The Freshman Direct Scholarship Program is highly competitive.
TIMELINE
Scholarships are offered on a rolling basis. In general, an offer of a scholarship may be included with your letter of invitation to join the Michael G. Foster School of Business. Some offers will arrive separately from an offer of admission. The majority of offers will be sent January through April.
ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION REQUEST
Most admitted students are offered funding based upon their UW admissions application. Some scholarship funds include an initial selection process based on the UW admissions application and a secondary review of additional information. The Foster School of Business will contact students if additional information is required and offer them an opportunity to apply further. This process can include but is not limited to; essays, recommendations and interviews. Students are primarily notified of their initial selection via email. Consider checking email daily between January and May.
ELIGIBILITY
All students offered admission to the business school are considered for scholarship funding, including international students.
TYPES OF AWARDS
-
Need: The majority of scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $6,000, consider a student's merit and financial need in determining eligibility for award. You must be eligible for
Financial Aid to be considered for these awards.
-
Merit: There are a limited number of merit scholarships that do not require financial need as a basis for award. International students will only be considered for merit scholarships.
-
Renewable Funding: Most scholarship offers are limited to one year. However, some funds are renewable based on satisfactory progress and stated eligibility guidelines.
OTHER FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
The UW Undergraduate Scholarship Office provides service for finding other funding sources. After the freshman year, business students may apply once annually to be considered for all scholarships that the Michael G. Foster School of Business has to offer to upper division students. Merit only scholarships are highly competitive. Need based scholarships are moderately competitive.
